How to become a member

I am happy to hear of your interest in the Music Teachers National Association and the Florida State Music Teachers Association. We are a non-profit organization providing professional support for music teachers and their students such as:
  • Conferences and Workshops
  • Student Competitions
  • Non-competitive Student Evaluations
  • Teacher Certification Program
  • Subscription to The Florida State Music Teacher
MTNA, FSMTA and the local association, Sarasota Music Teachers Association, are all affiliated, so when you join one, you join all three.

Local SMTA Dues are to be paid by JULY 1st of each year, along with District VIII, State (FSMTA) and National (MTNA) dues when the invoice is sent out in April from MTNA. The total $136.00 includes:
  • $10.00 - Local SMTA Dues
  • $45 - State (FSMTA) Dues
  • $81 - National (MTNA) Dues
Total = $136.00
 
 
If SMTA does not receive notice from MTNA by August 1 that a member has paid the current dues, the member’s name may be removed from the yearbook.

State By-Laws, Article VII, Section 1 states:
‘Annual dues for all categories of membership shall be due on the first day of the membership year (July 1), after which date members are not in good standing, nor are they entitled to any of the privileges of membership until dues are paid for the current membership year.
