FSMTA Student Competitions & Awards
Dear FSMTA Colleagues,
We are very pleased to announce that this year’s upcoming Florida MTNA Competitions will take place at the University of South Florida in Tampa over the weekend of October 26-27, 2019. Registration will be available on the MTNA Website in August 2019.
Competitive Events will be held in the following divisions: Young Artist (Ages 19-26), Senior (Ages 15-18) and Junior (Ages 11-14). Students can enter in the following categories: Piano, Piano Duet (SR only), String, Wind, Brass, Voice, and Composition. For more information regarding repertoire requirements, etc. Please visit the MTNA Website.
New in 2019: MTNA will no longer be holding the Chamber Wind and Chamber String Competitive Events at the State Competition. Instead, groups wanting to compete are welcome to apply with a video recording prior to the deadline of November 6, 2019. From this online round, the 7 best groups in each category will be selected - regardless of State - for the finals at the National Competition. More information regarding these important changes can be found on the MTNA Website.
All of these competitive events are also open to non-member teacher's students*, so feel free to forward this information on to any who are interested in these wonderful opportunities!
Best,
Lydia Blakemore
VP MTNA Competitive Events
* Non-member teacher's students will need to pay an additional non-member fee unless their teacher decides to become a member of MTNA.
