President's Message 2020-2021

For Such a Time as This!
What a time for reflection! WOW! I felt like “Life is Good”! Enjoyed teaching in my own studio space; Children settled; Grandchildren Growing; a little traveling; YES! (Throw fist into the air!) Life was GOOD! WHO knew… WOW!
ZOOM meetings, uncertainty, virtual lessons, remote recitals, less students, more worries, new considerations! WOW! MISS our students. MISS our comrades. MISS our family gatherings. No Student Day, as we knew it! It seems NOTHING is as we knew it! Over-whelmed! Thankful! Scared!
Challenged! 2020 A year to Remember! A year that would help us ENJOY every moment lived! EVERY student who paid! EVERY hurdle CLEARED!
We are not SURE what 2020/2021 looks like for SMTA – Remote meetings? More texting? More emails? More phone calls? But, be assured – we are all in this together!!!
The verse that comes to mind: Though we look through a “glass darkly… Now I know in part… Now these three; faith, hope, love; but the greatest of these is love.” I Corinthians 13 vs. 12 & 13.
FAITH will get us through. More people than EVER need music; we live in the Senior Capital of the world. More opportunities to be teaching. More Seniors than ever before are becoming pretty GOOD at technology. We can do this!!!
Look how far we have come. Look back – do you remember who your 1st piano teacher was, where you sat, how she taught; how she taught you with that same RESOLVE, LOVE AND JOY you get when YOU teach?!
SMTA needs you more than ever. We are digging deep. We are creating more. We are building a legacy. Our students will look back at our RESOLVE, LOVE AND JOY! THEY need us more than ever. We need each other more than ever… Feel free to text and email ideas to your officers and me.
Sincerely,
Your SMTA President
Donna Cupicha
